New Years Eve on the Gold Coast also includes an array of family-friendly amusement options, parties, concerts, various activities and programs for kids. There are also plenty of adults-only celebrations for over 18’s.

People who are planning to visit Broadbeach for New Years Eve celebrations can visit Kurrawa Park; where you can watch the fireworks while enjoying the wide range of entertainment, activities and dining options at the various fine-dining venues.

The New Years Eve fireworks are watched from various points across the city, with one of the most popular viewpoints for the fireworks being Southport. Alternatively, the Labrador side of the Broadwater is another great spot to watch the sparkling fireworks over the skyline of Surfers Paradise.

Each year, there are generally celebrations held in various locations around the Gold Coast including: at Kurrawa Park, Broadbeach; Broadwater Parklands Southport; Viney Park, Coomera; North Kirra Surf Club, North Kirra; Brien Harris Oval, Ormeau; Paradise Point Parklands, Paradise Point; Surfers Paradise Beach and along Marine Parade, Coolangatta.

Event Times

Surfers Paradise - 8pm, 10pm and 12am
Take in three firewords displays throughout the night. Vantage points for the 8pm and midnight shows are ideal anywhere along Surfers Paradise Beach. The 10pm display is launched over Nerang River and the best view is from Surfers Paradise Riverside. Along the foreshore you can expect rides and activities for young and old and restaurants are nearby throughout the precinct.

Southport - 9pm
Broadwater Parklands offers the best vantage point for those catching the early Southport fireworks. It often features food trucks from 5pm onwards.

Main Beach - 8pm and 12am
Located just in front of the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Main Beach dazzles with two fireworks displays. If you can't secure a location inside the hotel, mark your spot with a picnic blanket in Phillip Park instead.

Broadbeach - 8pm and 12am
Kurrawa Park and Pratten Park generally host live performances from the first fireworks display right to the last over Broadbeach. Both are popular options for catching the night show.

Coolangatta - 9pm and 12am
On the beach is where you should be sure to watch the fireworks over Coolangatta.

Coomera - 9:30pm
This kid-friendly event features amusement park rides as well as live music and food stalls.
